My Morning Coffee

This is how I like my cup of Joe, black with a touch of ground cardamom, cinnamon, turmeric & a pinch of salt and black pepper.

This ends up tasting spiced but not overwhelming. The cinnamon gives it warmth, cardamom brightens it up, the turmeric adds anti-inflammatory properties and the black pepper is used to activate it - or so I’ve read - and the touch of salt just brings out some of the flavors but doesn’t end up being salty, trust me. I also sometimes like to add oat milk and honey if I’m feeling wild.

Ingredients

  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 1 tsp. cardamom 
  • ½ tsp turmeric
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • Pinch of salt

Method:

I normally don't measure so you may need to adjust according to your tongues liking but this is just a baseline for where to begin. So just add this stuff to the coffee grounds in your chemex, french press or moka pot and proceed with making your coffee, business as usual. Froth up some milk and honey to pour over your coffee and oooof, you’ve made a nice little morning pick me up right there.
